| Account creation, login, member identification, and login device limits | Email, passwords and other authentication information, member identifier, and display name/nickname necessary to identify the member. For social login: provider, linked identifier and email needed for authentication. Device identifiers (UUIDs) and device categories (mobile/desktop) for login device management. Optional profile images are addressed in subsection C. | As necessary for contract formation/performance under Article 15(1)(4) of the Korean Personal Information Protection Act. Until account deletion (membership withdrawal). |
| Learning settings and records | Country/language settings, time zone, learning goals/level, question/lesson identifiers, responses/correctness, assessments, progress, learning times and usage needed for the requested feature | Article 15(1)(4). Until account deletion (membership withdrawal), to the extent necessary for requested settings, progress and records. Earlier lawful deletion requests are handled accordingly. |
| Speech recognition, pronunciation assessment, and AI conversation | Audio, input text/conversation settings, transcriptions, AI responses, assessments/corrections, and member/session identifiers necessary for the requested feature. Conversation/call records only to the extent necessary to provide records requested by the user. | Article 15(1)(4). Feature delivery is distinguished from long-term storage of original audio or complete conversations; storage necessity and duration are separately assessed under Section 2. The Company’s model training/improvement follows optional consent in subsection C. |
| Writing practice | Member/question identifiers, correctness, learning dates/times, and other writing practice results | Contract performance. Until account deletion (membership withdrawal). Earlier lawful deletion requests are handled accordingly. Original input processing is distinguished in Section 2. |
| Payments, subscriptions, and refunds | Member and payment-provider customer/subscription/transaction identifiers, product, amount/currency, payment time, subscription status/period, receipt/cancellation/refund records, and contact information needed to verify payment | Contract performance and statutory obligations. Contract/withdrawal and payment/supply records are retained for 5 years under applicable law. |
| Contract-related inquiries and requests | Member or transaction identifier, reply contact, payment-error/subscription-cancellation/refund inquiry, necessary attachments, and response/handling records | Article 15(1)(4), as necessary to perform a contract or take steps requested by the user during contract formation. Deleted when the purpose is fulfilled, except consumer complaint/dispute records retained for 3 years under the legal basis in Section 3. |
| Privacy rights requests | Relevant member identifier, reply contact, request/handling records, and minimal identity or representative-authority verification information | Article 15(1)(2) and the applicable rights obligations in Articles 35–38 of the Korean Personal Information Protection Act. Temporary verification materials are deleted after verification. If request/handling records require separate retention, its basis and period are separately explained. |
For general inquiries, partnership proposals, and events, the Company explains the purpose, information, legal basis, and retention through the relevant submission screen and obtains consent where required. Institutional services are addressed in Section 5.
B. Information processed with consent — required where applicable
Where a requested feature requires separate consent, the Company explains the purpose, information, retention, and effects of refusal before use and obtains consent. Legal representative consent follows Section 4.
| Consent and conditions | Purpose, items, and retention | Effect of refusal/withdrawal |
|---|---|---|
| International transfer based on separate consent: only where a non-consent basis in Section 7 is not used and the transfer is indispensable to a requested feature | The recipient, country, timing, method, items, purpose, retention, and refusal procedure are separately explained based on the actual transfer. | Only the feature requiring the transfer may be limited. Transfers for optional model training or marketing are not bundled into consent required for basic services. |
Additional processing requiring consent, such as third-party disclosure, is separately explained when applicable. If unnecessary for basic services, it is optional. A legal representative’s agreement to a service contract or purchase, acceptance of the Terms of Service, and operating-system permission are separate from this privacy consent.
C. Information processed with consent — optional
| Purpose | Information | Basis, duration, and consequences |
|---|---|---|
| Optional profile settings | Profile image selected by the user for display on their profile | Consent under Article 15(1)(1). Until deletion, consent withdrawal, or account withdrawal. Omission alone does not restrict unrelated basic features. Information needed for age checks is separately addressed in Section 4. |
| Learning usage analysis and learning recommendations | Gender optionally provided by the user and linked learning records (learning level, progress, responses, and assessments) | Separate optional consent under Article 15(1)(1). Until the earliest of consent withdrawal, account deletion, or purpose fulfillment. Refusal does not restrict registration or basic learning. Withdrawal stops analysis and recommendations for this purpose; processing of basic learning records is separately governed by subsection A. |
| Speech-recognition/AI model training and improvement | Consented audio files, target sentences, transcriptions, recognition confidence, learning-feature category, member identifier, and collection time | Separate optional consent. Until the earliest of consent withdrawal, account withdrawal, or fulfillment of the disclosed purpose. Basic learning remains available if refused. Previously stored materials and external providers are distinguished in Sections 2 and 8. |
| Promotional messages | Email, phone number or push token for the consented channel, and subscription preferences/consent records | Separate consent required for personal information processing and promotional messages. Until opt-out, consent withdrawal, or account withdrawal. Basic services remain available if refused. |
Required and optional consent screens separately state purposes, items, retention periods, the right to refuse, and specific consequences. Choices are not preselected; users can review and select them individually. Declining optional consent does not restrict registration, payment, or basic learning. Where the same information is needed for another lawful purpose, only the necessary scope is processed separately. Marketing opt-out does not stop necessary payment, security, or other service notices.
Sensitive information and legally protected identifiers requiring a separate basis or consent are not processed solely on general service consent.
2. Voice, Learning Records, and AI Data
Speech recognition, pronunciation assessment, and AI conversation transmit necessary audio or text to Company servers and external services. On-device federated learning uses a separate processing method, described in the table below.
| Data | Processing | Retention/deletion |
|---|---|---|
| Original audio for feature delivery | Audio needed for recognition, transcription, pronunciation assessment, and AI conversation. Depending on the feature, Google, OpenAI, or other external services are used. | The Company deletes original audio immediately after processing for feature delivery and retains only the transcribed text. Transcribed text follows the retention period for learning/conversation records below. Voice-training materials stored under separate optional consent are governed by their separate entry below; external-provider retention and deletion terms are addressed in Section 7. |
| Learning/conversation records | Transcriptions, user/AI conversations, assessments/corrections, and progress linked to the member to provide records | Until account withdrawal or fulfillment of a lawful deletion request. Statutory retention and destruction follow Section 3. |
| Optional voice-training materials | Audio stored after checking consent and linked to the member identifier, target sentence, transcription/confidence, and related information | Until the earliest of consent withdrawal, account withdrawal, or fulfillment of the disclosed purpose. Withdrawal stops new collection and triggers deletion of linked files/data. Statutory retention and backups follow Section 3. |
| Original handwriting/stroke data | Processed to recognize handwritten input as text and provide writing practice. Original handwriting data is distinguished from recognized text and learning results such as correctness. | Original handwriting/stroke data is destroyed immediately after recognition and is not separately retained. Learning results follow the retention period for writing practice in Section 1. |
| Acoustic and pronunciation features and federated learning model updates | Pronunciation, intonation, pitch, speaking rate, and phoneme features extracted on the device and converted into numerical feature vectors to train and adjust AI pronunciation-recognition model weights. Original audio and individual feature vectors are not sent to the server; only model updates, such as weight changes produced by training, are transmitted to improve the shared model. | Original audio and features on the device deleted after training processing is complete. Model updates sent to the server assessed for identification and training-data reconstruction risks, with appropriate safeguards applied. |
The Company distinguishes service delivery from AI model training and improvement. Its AI model training and improvement follows separately explained optional consent; refusal does not restrict basic learning features.
3. Statutory Retention and Destruction
Information is destroyed without delay when no longer needed due to purpose completion, expiry, consent withdrawal, or account withdrawal. Records subject to mandatory retention are separated from other uses. The periods below do not authorize retaining all account or audio information together.
| Record | Period |
|---|---|
| Labeling/advertising | 6 months |
| Contracts/withdrawal | 5 years |
| Payments and supply of goods/services | 5 years |
| Consumer complaints/disputes | 3 years |
Electronic files are deleted using methods preventing recovery; paper is shredded or incinerated. Access to legally retained records is restricted, and records are destroyed when the period ends. Uninstalling the app does not delete the account or server-held information. Account deletion and subscription cancellation are explained in Article 20 of the Terms of Service.
Account withdrawal or lawful deletion requests also address linked learning/conversation records and stored files. Withdrawal of optional consent deletes materials for that purpose separately, rather than indiscriminately deleting records retained for other lawful purposes. Statutory retention is distinguished by basis and period, with other use restricted.
The Company manages personal information retention periods and ensures that materials are destroyed without delay once their specified retention periods expire. This management also covers backups and materials held by external processors.
4. Children, Young People, and Legal Representatives
Date of birth is used to determine the user’s age and whether a legal representative’s consent is required, separately from optional profile settings and marketing information. Date of birth collected for age checks is not used for marketing without a separate lawful basis.
The Company explains legal representative consent procedures according to the user’s age, country of residence, and applicable law.
Where consent is required under the Korean Personal Information Protection Act for processing the information of children under 14, consent is obtained from the legal representative and verified. Different requirements applicable to overseas users are followed.
Processing requiring consent does not begin before consent is obtained. Minimal information for obtaining consent is collected only to the extent permitted by applicable law. Verification uses the minimum necessary information, with purpose, items, method, and retention explained beforehand.
Children, young people, and legal representatives may exercise applicable access, correction, deletion, suspension, and withdrawal rights. If processing without required consent is discovered, the processing is stopped and lawful consent verification, deletion, or other necessary action follows. Statutorily retained records are kept only for the relevant purpose and duration.
Legal representatives may provide required privacy consent on behalf of children and young people. Optional profiles, AI training, and marketing can be selected separately; refusal does not restrict unrelated basic services. Consent required for paid-service contracts is obtained separately.
The Company maintains records of legal representative consent, changes, and withdrawal. Representatives may request consent records or withdrawal through the channels in Section 8.
To be confirmed: country-specific requirements, implementation of legal representative verification in the app and website, data items, and evidence retention.
5. Third-Party Disclosure and Institutional Connections
Disclosure is limited to circumstances permitted by Articles 17 and 18 of the Korean Personal Information Protection Act and other applicable law. Where consent is required, the recipient, purpose, items, retention, right to refuse, and consequences are explained separately. Non-consent bases such as statutory submission duties also remain limited to the necessary scope.
Institutional services may process institution/partner codes, affiliation, student numbers, and learning records to verify eligibility and provide learning services. Purposes, information, legal bases, and retention are explained before use.
Even where a school, public institution, employer, or agency pays for access or refers a member, disclosure of individual learning records follows the advance notice and consent procedures below.
Payment information collected directly and processed independently by Apple App Store, Google Play, Paddle, or other providers is also governed by their policies. The Company retains its duties for member/transaction information it sends or receives.
Where an institution-linked service involves disclosure of personal information or access by institutional staff, the Company informs affected members in advance through in-app notices, the relevant website service screen, or similar channels of the recipient institution, purpose, information disclosed, retention and use period, and legal basis. Where consent is legally required, the Company also explains the right to refuse and the consequences of refusal and obtains separate consent.
6. Processing Outsourcing and External Services
Under Article 26 of the Korean Personal Information Protection Act, outsourcing arrangements address limits on use, safeguards, subcontracting, supervision, and responsibility, and processors are supervised.

8. Rights of Users and Legal Representatives
Users may request access, correction/deletion, suspension of processing, and consent withdrawal under applicable law. Legal representatives and duly authorized agents may also act within the legal scope.
Requests may be made through in-app support, dbehdrb99@bibimbapstory.com, or 044-864-9984. Email and phone remain available when app login is unavailable. The Company performs minimal identity/authority checks and responds within statutory periods.
- Access means confirming/providing held information; correction means fixing errors; deletion follows a check of the data and statutory retention duties.
- Pending correction, use/disclosure is restricted as required by law, and previous recipients are notified of corrections where necessary.
- Consent withdrawal stops processing based on that consent and triggers necessary destruction. Records retained on another legal basis are distinguished by basis and duration.
- AI-training withdrawal addresses both stopping new collection and previously stored member-linked materials. Handling information already reflected in a model depends on its actual form and applicable law and is explained accordingly.
- Marketing may be refused/withdrawn using message opt-out functions or the contact channels above.
- Rights are restricted only on legal grounds, with reasons and objection procedures explained.
